  36. As you no doubt realize, this is not quite right....the flash will assume 
  37. you are at MAXIMUM distance when the sensor is covered (as it is not 
  38. 'seeing' any reflected light), and give you a full blast from the strobe.

  40. Of course you can accomplish the same thing by toggling the 'manual' 
  41. swicth, which often merely is a slide to cover the sensor.

  43. At max distance, the duration is usually around 1/2000, as you stated, 
  44. becoming much shorter at near distances (as I stated).
